Jeremy and I saw a movie tonight, and I learned two important things.

One from the Keanu Reeves.

And one from Jeremy.

1. The trick to life is learning to live without an answer.... I think.

2. If raindrops were shaped differently, they would kill us.

I learned more than that, but those are the two most important things. And Jeremy is happy, and that makes me happy. Goodnight.

A new year has begun here in Chapel Hill, but things are different. I am in a house. Laura is in Paris. And I am beginning the process of becoming a North Carolinian. This is the most recent and cutest development in that department. (It's a sea turtle!)

and if you miss me, picture this )

i will now recount my spontaneous trip to atlanta, georgia in the form of dialogue.

Richard: (over AIM) are you a Mars Volta fan?
Alison: yes!
R: let's go to atlanta tomorrow night and see them, i have an extra ticket!
A: okay!

the next day at 1pm

R: gosh this bus is taking a long time. i hope we can get to my friend's car in the parking lot.
A: here's the bus!

A: i've never been to cracker barrel before.
R: let's go. it's crazy.
A: this is crazy! it's like a store and a restaurant in one! this food is good, but look how greasy my plate is.
A&R: ewwww

drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive

R: crap we still have 170 miles until Atlanta. i'm going to find cars that are going fast and speed and almost get pulled over by cops and scare the crap out of myself.
A: haha okay.

drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive

A: we're here!
R: this venue is awesome!
A: yayyyyyy

listening to goooooood fucking music in an awesome venue that used to be some kind of theatre complete with balconies and everything. mars volta is amazing live definitely go and see them if you get a chance.

after the show:

R: this merch is expensive.
A: yeah, let's go.

at 3am:

R: I need to pull over and sleep somewhere. Let's stop in this hotel parking lot.
A: okay

nap for two hours in the car in a parking lot hehe

R: okay, i feel better, but i need some coffee. let's go to waffle house.
A: i've never been to waffle house

waffle house is the best food you can buy at 5am. i got grits, eggs, and toast. they have a jukebox with a variety of waffle house tunes to choose from. the staff is friendly as you would expect from anywhere in the south. go there please.

12:27am 06/04/2005
I ventured to Charlotte for Easter weekend since I am so far away from home.

Maggie and I had adventures.

I got to know her crazy family and cute pets, and I discovered high thread count sheets. I saw a good chunk of Charlotte thanks to Maggie's reliable '76 Mercedes deisel aka The Tank.

In our travels, we came across cute coffee shops, great vintage clothes stores, my parents' former home and hangouts, and a good ol' southern cookin' restaurant (of course) called Dish. or Plates. I can't remember. Maggie's gonna work there this summer.

We took the train back to campus. A perfect close to a perfect weekend )

look at this freakin' masterpiece of modern architecture!

and it's mine!
it will be perfect after the following alterations:
- crappy xmas decorations
+ cute garden and tree-trimming
+ slip n' slide
+ elegant interior decorating
- shoes on telephone wires

comes complete with:
washer/dryer, security system, 3 bedrooms each with its own bath, two outdoor patios, spacious kitchen and living room, big driveway, fenced yard, dishwasher... everything a gal could need. and walking distance to anything and everything exciting in chapel hill/carrboro. yay!

the magster and abster will make perfect roommates. we're gonna have 7th grade dance parties and other themed get-togethers. everyone must make the pilgrimage to mecca at least once next year. you have to!

also, next semester i'm gonna take 2 or 3 math courses! woohoo!

good week, good week.

02:50am 13/02/2005
tonight i attended an acoustic show. it was in this place called the skylight exchange by day (when it is a cafe slash bookstore slash record store), and the nightlight by night (when it is a bar slash venue). there are shelves of books to the ceiling on three walls and booths whose benches were all turned to the platform that is used as a stage. interesting people were in attendance as you would expect at a place like that. at one point, a yellow lab waddled over, sniffed maggie's knee, climbed up on the bench beside her, and laid her head down for a nap. i took over as the dog pillow when maggie got up to watch jason anderson's antics. he plays under the name wolf colonel. this is the first i've heard of him. steve white, he's your long lost twin. he's from new hampshire so you should catch a show if you haven't yet, i know you'd like him. he's on tour and i swear everything he said has come out of your mouth at one time or another. another act i enjoyed were the sisters. they had great voices. i enjoyed the songs but i liked the quiet sister the best. her voice was more humble. i dont think i deal with change very well, but tonight cheered me up. we road the p2p back to the dorm with an old friend (as old as a friend can get after only a few months). It was really crowded. )
